Phase 1
In phase 1 of this encounter you will experience 4 mechanics.
First mechanic you will notice will be that the boss has a frontal cone cleave that will add a stack of vulnerability to the tank, and it will do this until the third phase of the fight. To deal with this, when the boss is readying spit, I'd suggest the second tank provoke and move out of position of the rest of the group if you are running two tanks. If you are solo tanking this encounter save your cool downs for the third, fourth fifth and if you have to deal with it, sixth stack.
The second mechanic you will encounter here are vines, and you will have to deal with this through out the entire fight, it starts off simple and gradually gets progressively more difficult, to deal with this mechanic simply run away from the other person you have vines on.
The Third mechanic you will encounter is bulbs, these things will appear around the arena 3 at a single time, they are not an immediate threat, however one can land in the center of the arena where you would commonly tank the boss and this bulb has to be burned down as fast as possible to avoid any issues with the next mechanic.
The Fourth mechanic of this phase is the boss will place a golden sun over a persons head, and will then turn and draw in any and every person in and devour them, gaining a stacking buff that will last through out the fight, to counter this you can wait for the sun icon to disappear and run through the boss to the opposite side – as should the rest of the party have done so when the icon has appeared. The trick here is simply wait until it's disappeared to make your way through so you don't end up getting the entire party devoured.
Phase 2
In phase 2, all of the mechanics of phase 1 will be present. There are 3 new mechanics you will encounter here. – This phase starts at 80%
The first mechanic that will present itself to you right at the start of the phase change is Blighted Bouquet – With this mechanic disengage your weapon and stand still, if your character is doing any action even something as simple as auto attacking or taking a step you will be instantly killed. There are 2 ways to indicate that this attack is being readied. The entire field will be filled with a pollen dusty graphic, and will shimmer in a yellow-ish gold tint, and will stop once the attack has gone off.
The second and third mechanic you will encounter here is Glazed Honey and the Bee, the boss will turn and spit a honey debuff that cannot be dispelled and it will summon a bee, during this mechanic watch out for any bulbs that may spawn, and if Blighted Bouquet is being triggered, this bee also acts as a small DPS check, if you do not kill it fast enough it will kill your entire raid.
Along side with the second mechanic, the person who has the Glazed Honey debuff needs to be eat'n by the boss to have to debuff removed, or bees will never stop spawning during the raid, and can cause lots of issues – It's often considered that this is a wipe if the person with the debuff is not eat'n.
Phase 3
In phase 3, the final phase of the fight – this phase starts at 45%, everyone that is not the person tanking the boss together very tightly for the first two mechanics that you will encounter.
The first mechanic will be slugs, 3 of them will spawn around the boss, the second tank should pick these up and hold them for the next mechanic.
The second mechanic is acid rain, the boss will spit 3 balls into the air and will trigger an aoe on 3 random people, once the attack has finished 3 acidic honey's will spawn, now there are two ways of handling this mechanic. It is very important that you do not attack these as they will kill your group very quickly. You should avoid any AoE's and Flash when this mechanic is getting ready to trigger.
Phase 3 - Burn
If your group has the DPS, the person main tanking the boss(you stop tank swapping at this point, who ever has it, has it for the rest of the encounter.) You simply move over to where ever the boss got pulled to - your off tank included and have your caster DPS use LB3 on the boss and the 3 slugs, killing them and dealing a decent chunk of damage on the boss.
The acidic honey will now start doing a debuff to the group and will require some strong aoe heals to counter, this acts as a soft enrage as once you get to 10 stacks you're dead.
In this phase of the fight, the boss will have lost -
It's frontal cleave with increasing damage taken debuff
bulbs spawning
draw in to eat the party
blighted bouquet
glazed honey
However he gains 3 new attacks -
Leaf Storm - This is the attack that will signify you have pushed into the last phase of the fight, and will deal a large amount of damage to the raid, damage is mitigated by stacking together very tightly, which is best done behind the boss.
Rotten Stench - The boss will turn to the raid and shoot a purple laser across the battle field, this damage is split against all targets that are hit so it is very important that you stay together.
Swarm - The boss will summon bees around the main tank and they will stack up to (I think) 4 stacks before triggering the actual attack, the tank will be stung multiple times by these bee's for 700-1000 damage and then they will disappear.
You will also have to deal with vines in this phase, the best way to handle this without risk of killing the group is to run straight back from the boss in a straight line so you are always in line of rotten stench and ensure the least amount of damage taken from the attack, break these vines as fast as possible to resume DPS.
If your DPS is strong enough and you beat the soft enrage of 10 stacks of acidic honey you will be well on your way to seeing some High Allagan loot from Turn 6, congratulations.
Phase 3 - Traditional
The phase will open up with Leaf Storm - This is the attack that will signify you have pushed into the last phase of the fight, and will deal a large amount of damage to the raid, damage is mitigated by stacking together very tightly, which is best done behind the boss.
The boss will then summon 3 slugs, the off tank should pick up these slugs and move back to the rest of the group spamming flash until the boss starts to cast acidic honey, which will be indicated by 3 large aoe's on the ground, this will summon 3 yellow slimes.
To handle this, pull the slugs slightly away from the slimes, and pick 1 to deal heavy damage to, do not kill this slug yet. If you stacked tight enough once the slug hits about 35% HP it will move over and eat the 3 honeys, and turn into a Super Slug - the person tanking this should promptly use hallowed ground or holmgang when it is about to return as it will hit VERY hard.
Have a Melee use Limit Break 3 on this slug and burn it down as fast as possible, then kill the 2 remaining slugs and line up behind the boss and start doing as much damage as you can.
The boss will have 2 other attacks.
After a bit of time has elapsed the boss will use acidic honey and summon 3 slugs again, the second tank should flash these slugs and kite them around the arena while the rest of the raid finishes off the boss.
If all of this is done correctly you should be well on your way to seeing some High Allagan gear from Turn 6, Congratulations!
